Do you think you can tell the difference between fake and real news? According to some new research from The Canadian Journalism Foundation (CJF) one-half of Canadians admit they are not confident in their ability to distinguish between fake news generated by AI and human-produced content.
Other key highlights from the study include:
- A majority (58 per cent) of Canadians believe they have personally encountered misleading or false online/social media information in the past six months that was generated by AI; and
- A majority (71 per cent) say governments will not be able to regulate companies that generate AI content for online/social media use.
The research was conducted by Maru Public Opinion.
