Vox MediaMore bad news from the publishing world that will have an impact on the PR industry as late Thursday, Vox Media announced major cuts that would impact its brands including Thrillist, PS (formerly PopSugar), and Eater, all lifestyle publications.

This is not the first media outlet to be hit with layoffs in 2024, and hopefully the last as the holiday season is right the corner.  Media layoffs or any downsizing also impact the public relations industry with fewer journalists and publications mean reduced opportunities to pitch stories, especially for lifestyle-related campaigns.

Moving forward Vox Media might prioritize other verticals or types of content, potentially sidelining lifestyle topics.

Now is the time to support Canadian media.
