This week, WPP announced the merger of its two largest communications agencies, Hill & Knowlton and BCW, to form Burson. Corey duBrowa, currently Global CEO of BCW, will take on the role as Global CEO of Burson and AnnaMaria DeSalva, currently, Global Chairman and CEO of Hill & Knowlton, has been named Global Chairman of Burson. WPP plans for Burson to be fully operational from 1 July 2024.
Here in Canada, BCW is represented by GCI Canada, which was not mentioned in the press release as it was focused on the agency’s globally, not regionally.
PR In Canada reached out to WPP to clarify the direction the global holding company will be taking with the 2 Canadian PR agencies Hill & Knowlton and GCI Canada, and we were told “Appointments will be announced throughout 2024 as the integration progresses,” according to spokespeople from BCW and Hill & Knowlton.
GCI Canada is currently led by Kristy Derkson; where the Canadian division of Hill & Knowlton is led by Sheila Wisniewski.
