2021 has been another year full of ‘adventures,’ before we put in the rear view we thought we’d take a
moment and give a few members of the community Look Back At 2021. Next in the series is Megan Taylor who shares some moments from her year.
Who are you?
My name is Megan Taylor & I’m the Vice President at FAULHABER Communications. I hail from Ireland and after over a decade in the PR industry working across Ireland and the UK am finally calling Canada home! I’m a self proclaimed foodie, hosting a Sunday Roast Dinner every week for a group of friends, come rain or shine (or snow!) we have all the trimmings from cauliflower cheese to roasties and mash; not forgetting the mighty Yorkshire Pudding!
Looking back at January 2021 – what did you have planned for the year?
When we entered 2021 we had lofty goals as an agency and also for our clients. It was about emerging post COVID in the strongest possible way. I would say we’ve been successful! We’ve grown our business and the team, had some huge news to share with a new leadership team and a milestone 20th anniversary!
Any business highlights for 2021 to share?
FAULHABER is celebrating its 20th anniversary, has a new President and Senior Leadership team and is committed to giving back in celebration of these milestones – from a DEI focused scholarship program to offering FConsults (a pro bono marketing service) to female BIPOC businesses and launching FMentors (a leadership focused mentorship program), FAULHABER has continued to show up in 2021.
Any personal highlights for 2021 to share?
A definite highlight of the year was announcing my appointment to Vice President. Alongside new President Lexi Pathak and with continued mentorship from CEO and Founder Christine Faulhaber I am very excited for the future of the agency and proud to be part of the Senior Leadership Team.
What did you learn about yourself
I have learned that I am a very nimble person. The ability to ebb and flow with the ever-changing landscape in a post-COVID world has been a learning curve and something which has been exhilarating to say the least. Working tirelessly to provide smart, strategic solutions to our brands in an unknown time and watching them pay off, translating to sales and brand awareness has been very rewarding! I have also learned (like so many other people) how to perfect the humble banana bread – among other culinary delights; watch out Jamie Oliver 😉
Who or what inspires you to get up and keep going?
My team and the new generation of communicators inspires me daily. It’s so energising to watch a team of junior leaders get excited about a brand launch and how to connect with consumers across Canada and around the world.
How do you motivate your team?
Hard work delivers results and there’s nothing more motivating than results. I like to think I foster a culture of driven, hard working professionals who are excited to come to work every day. Being someone the team can relate to and ideate with is imperative and so I really like to enable an open forum of communication to inspire young minds.
If you were to put something in a 2021-time capsule, what would it be?
All of the tie dye sweatsuits I love dearly and symbolise this ‘lockdown lifestyle’ perfectly (but don’t want to have in my closet on the daily!)
Is there a song that represents your 2021?
Well, Run by One Republic was in my Top 2021 Song wrap up on Spotify & I do resonate with the lyrics “Where it all ends, nobody knows. But until then let’s have some fun” I think 2021 was a break free year for many coming out the tail end of the pandemic with a new mindset & just putting it all on the table – so let’s have some fun in 2022 😉
