This April Fools', BeaverTails is playfully addressing a familiar treat thief: the person who claims, "I'm not hungry" or "I'll just have one bite," only to end up eating half of your pastry. This prank cleverly highlights a behaviour that many people recognize all too well!

According to a OnePoll survey commissioned by KFC, 49% say it’s annoying when someone takes food off their plate without permission. To help fans protect their treats, BeaverTails has created a fake line of pastry sleeves designed for April Fools’ Day to disguise its iconic pastries as something instantly unappealing to would-be bite thieves.

To help fans protect their treats, BeaverTails has created a fake line of pastry sleeves designed for April Fools’ Day to disguise its iconic pastries as something instantly unappealing to would-be bite thieves.

“This idea was inspired by BeaverTails fans who’ve shared funny stories online about someone helping themselves to their treat,” said Tina Serrao, Creative Director at BeaverTails®

These fake sleeves are our tongue-in-cheek answer to a very relatable problem: how to keep most of you treat to yourself.”

The mock sleeve April Fools’ designs include:

  • BÄVRTÅLS furniture assembly instruction — all the dread of flat-pack assembly chaos, none of the sweetness.
  • Beaverlingo practice reminder — channelling the internet’s most unhinged notification energy, making your treat feel more threatening than tempting.
  • “Didn’t Wash My Hands” warning — designed to make anyone think twice before going in for a bite.

This BeaverTails April Fools’ prank is a nod to the all-too-familiar treat thief. Because “just one bite” never really means just one bite.
