Bye Bye ByeOnce again we have been tipped to a number of senior communicators that have left NATIONAL Public Relations [TCO] over the last few months.  Similar to past exits the majority of these are at the director and above level including: Diana McLaughlan, Megan Shay, Andrea Mandel-Campbell, Lanny Cardow, Nithya Ramachandran, Kristine Moshonas, Tiffany Limgenco and Erin Jacobsen. The tipster referred to it as “mass exodus at NATIONAL Public Relations [TCO].”

Why do public relations people not want to work at NATIONAL Public Relations?

The agency has a long history of senior exits that we thought would end by now, but over and over the number of exits suggest there is a problem at NATIONAL Public Relations.  Is there something about their corporate culture that causes the staff turn over? Is this level of exits normal for a public relations agency?

We are at a point where corporations (agencies and brands) need to be more responsible for their actions.   Bad behaviour is no longer tolerated, and this story does explains why an agency this size continues to have lacklustre growth.

Equality, social justice are just a few issues that have grown in focus as part of ESG programs, this is certainly an area where NATIONAL has not be very vocal as to where they stand on issues that matter to people the most.

Can NATIONAL Public Relations restore its tarnished image?

We know NATIONAL once was and what they stood for, but that seems to be a thing of the past.  Over the years PR In Canada has reached out to several senior level people at NATIONAL for comment.  One individual said “I hate what you have covered, but it is all accurate,” even that person is no longer with the agency. Other attempts have been either met with “unique” responses, and other staff ignored our emails.
