There no debating whether Walmart has had an impact on the world of retail within North America as they continue to dominate and slash prices driving consumers to their outlets in just about every major city across Canada and the United States. Their brand is known for offering consumers lower prices and a place where manufactures “must go” if they want to sell their product in volume to consumers.
This week, the retailer announced the launch of their own credit card, Walmart Canada Bank, a subsidiary of Wal-Mart Canada Corp will offer a credit card that rewards shoppings with Walmart Rewards.
“The Walmart Rewards MasterCard gives cardholders flexibility in earning rewards and tremendous selection on the merchandise they can redeem them for,” said Trudy Fahie, President and CEO of Walmart Canada Bank. “Walmart Rewards can be earned anywhere MasterCard® is accepted and used to purchase merchandise at Walmart Canada’s already unbeatable prices, from groceries to electronics, depending on what cardholders need or want.”
Is the Walmart brand strong enough to make consumers switch? The offer is pretty much average, for every dollar spent cardholders will earn 1.25% of their purchases in Walmart Rewards
