5 Lessons I Learned in 2023 - Lidia Piccolo

Here are the 5 lessons Lidia shared:

  1. Lift while you climb: I’ve had many mentors who would say my name in rooms full of opportunities when I wasn’t there, and who would champion me as they progressed in their careers. I am forever grateful to these mentors, and I always try to give back and champion others as well.
  2. Relationships are currency: I invest in all of my relationships by constantly putting deposits in every single person’s relationship bank. This means that I build trust with people quickly by doing what I say I’m going to do, following through on my commitments, and ensuring people can rely on me. Having good relationships makes it possible to solve any problem.
  3. Don’t play small: Don’t dim your light for others. Use your gifts to serve the world and make it a better place.
  4. It’s a marathon not a sprint: Make time for self-care so that you can show up as your best self in life and in business. By taking time for myself each day – whether it’s journal writing or reflecting – I’m able to be more present and manage competing demands consistently.
  5. Obstacles are detours in the right direction: Often times, when something doesn’t work out for me, or go as planned, it’s actually because there is something better around the corner. I have learned to trust that everything happens for a reason, even if I may not understand the reason at the time.

The purpose of this series is to examine the experiences of individuals who have learned important lessons in their particular field or industry, and to share these insights with others in the business or academic community.
