Over the last few months we have seen a number of media outlets layoff staff and in some cases shut down completely which can make the job of public relations much harder. Public relations relies on consumer and trade media outlets to help broadcast the message they craft on behalf of themselves or clients.
The latest casualty of the battle for publishers to survive the changing business landscape is Huffington Post who according to the Financial Times is up for sale by its owner Verizon Media Group. Huffington Post was acquired by AOL (who later was acquired by Verizon Media Group) for $4.4 billion and said to be the main asset under Verizon.
Brush up on those relationships with media, you will need to ensure that media respect you and your organization.
