How You Handle Internal Change Impacts Your Employees

MistakeWhether you are on the agency or brand side, your organization will go through highs and lows, some companies do a good job at communicating internal and external changes, while others fail which will often result in a mass exodus, or high staff turn over.  The last thing that you want is for your organization to have to deal with a crisis, but when a public relations agency has their own crisis communications problem, what message does that send out to the world?

1. Impromptu Time-Off Requests

When an employees asks for time off should not be an automatic red-flag, sudden requests to be out of the office for half or full days could mean the employee is interviewing for other roles. Paying attention to employees who suddenly call in sick might be an indicator they are ready to call it quits.

2. A Change In Attitude

When an an employee starts complaining about the company or the workload consistently, or if conversations abruptly end when you walk nearby, this could be a sign that he or she is starting to disengage from the organization.

Loss In Productivity And Motivation

If the employee’s quality of work takes a nose-dive, or if they normally work until 5 p.m. and are suddenly bolt for the door at 4 p.m., you could be on the verge of losing an employee.
