When you battling cancer, you need some heavy power behind you, so who better than multi-platinum pop group Hedley. The Juno award-winning musicians have come on board to become Relay For Life Youth Ambassadors for the Canadian Cancer Society in Ontario and encourage young people to get involved in the cause, one that touches everyone’s lives.
As part of the new campaign, Hedley will challenge fans to organize Relay For Life Youth fundraising events in high schools and post-secondary schools across Ontario. Incentives include the chance to win tickets to the #HelloWorld 2016 tour and a private Hedley performance for one lucky school in the province.
“We couldn’t ask for better Relay For Life Youth Ambassadors. They connect directly to our audience and know firsthand why we all need to be part of the fight against cancer,” says Tonya Stewart, Relay For Life and Special Events Director for the Canadian Cancer Society in Ontario. “In addition to raising money for research and vital cancer patient support services, our youth volunteers become leaders in making change happen.”

Two in every five Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer. By 2030, the number of cancer cases will jump by 40 per cent, largely due to the aging population. Relay For Life Youth gives young people the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of everyone dealing with cancer, including family and friends.
