Social Media Outcry Forces Rogers To Drop Sponsorship Of Chris Brown Concert

Chris BrownOver the weekend Rogers announced it would drop its sponsorship support for an upcoming concert involving Chris Brown after public outcry erupted over Facebook and Twitter.  Nova Scotia’s Energy 103.5 radio station shared on their social media accounts that Chris Brown would be headlining their summer concert Energy Rush, within minutes followers of the brand’s social channels shared their negative comments towards event promoter Drop Entertainment and Rogers (the top sponsor for the event).  Brown was sentenced to five years of probation and six months of community labor for beating his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.

Over the next few hours, Rogers stated they would look into the situation, a few hours later a statement saying they would be backing out of support for the music event was issued to media outlets.

“Don’t do the crime, if you can’t do the time,” just saying…
