If Can’t Beatem’ Steal Their Thunder, Apple, LG & HTC Make Moves On Sumsung Galaxy IV Launch Event

March 15, 2013

Samsung Galaxy 4After months of speculations, build up and excitement, fans and reporters gathered at Radio City Music Hall in New York last night to take part in the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S4.  In such a competitive market to have the best smartphone and gain the marketshare, HTC gathered a street team to embark on the crowd and give out snacks and hot chocolate as they waited in line to enter the building.  As well the street team was savvy enough to show off HTC’s new flagship product the HTC One which was launched a few weeks ago.

Another rival, LG also tried to grab some attention by using the billboard at Times Square, with a slightly different message that also played off Samsung’s use of the number 4 in their messaging.

Apple’s Chief Marketing Officer Phil Schiller also set up a number of media interviews ahead of the launch yesterday where he proceded to attempt to discredit the phone saying, “with their own data, only 16 percent of Android users are on year-old version of the operating system,” he said. “Over 50 percent are still on software that is two years old. A really big difference.” and “and that extends to the news we are hearing this week that the Samsung Galaxy S 4 is being rumored to ship with an OS that is nearly a year old,” he said. “Customers will have to wait to get an update.”
