Target’s $1 Million Giving Campaign Teams Up With Canadian Charities

November 21, 2012

Target continues to find new ways to embrace and engage Canadians, earlier this week they launched “Give with Target,” a new campaign aimed to help raise up to $1 million for select local charities.   The campaign will rely on Target Canada’s Facebook fan page  to drive adoption as they partner with ArtsSmarts, ArtStarts, YMCAs in Canada, Food Banks Canada, First Book Canada and Pathways to Education.  Facebook users across Canada can support the charity of their choice by visiting the page, and for every cause selected through the application, Target will donate $100 to the charity that supports that cause.

According to Target this is a campaign that has worked well in the United States and they now plan to bring it to Canada as part of their pre-launch efforts.

“At Target, community giving is and always has been a cornerstone of our company. We look forward to extending this commitment to the Canadian community by donating up to $1 million to six organizations this holiday season,” said Derek Jenkins, Senior Vice President of external relations, Target Canada. “Target’s corporate giving programs are designed to serve the needs of our guests and the communities where we do business, and Give With Target is a great way to demonstrate this commitment to our future Canadian guests.”

Target conducted research over the past year to better understand the unique nature of Canadian communities. Based on this research, the Give With Target campaign will support the charities that help to provide access to families and children in need with a focus on the following four causes: active play, arts, food and academic achievement.
