The daily deal site will be sponsoring National BBQ Day, which takes place on Saturday, August 6. Meal Exchange is calling on all Canadians to host a barbecue with locally grown food in support of the local food economy. To help raise funds, starting Wednesday, August 3, TeamBuy.ca will feature great barbecue buys in TeamBuy.ca cities that Canadians can use with their Meal Exchange barbecue gatherings, with a portion of all proceeds supporting the organization.
“We’re huge supporters of National BBQ Day! We’re encouraging TeamBuyers to spread the word about Meal Exchange, and register to host their own barbecues this weekend,” said Edward Yao, President and Co-founder of TeamBuy.ca. “It’s an incredible organization – student-founded and youth-driven, it has generated more than $3 million worth of food and funds to address local hunger.”
In addition, everyone hosting a barbecue on August 6 can register at www.mealexchange.com to “Grill, Grin and Win” two tickets to anywhere WestJet flies.
