Backup Heroes Gives Some Love To SickKids

July 15, 2011

Backup Heroes, the online community for backup professionals announced that it is supporting the Summit for SickKids’ mountain-climbing team. The team will climb Mount Cotopaxi in Ecuador to help raise money for The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto. BackupHeroes.com is a social network for backup professionals, and as part of this campaign is reaching out to its members to become real heroes in support of children’s health. For every new member that joins the vendor-neutral network, Backup Heroes will donate $10 to the Summit for SickKids. The funds are to be earmarked specifically to support the lifesaving work of the SickKids’ hematology/oncology department and its ground-breaking Cancer Genetics Research Program.

“SickKids is so much more than a hospital. We are driven, every day, by a mission to improve the health of children by providing the best in family-centered care, creating groundbreaking scientific and clinical advancements and training the next generation of experts in children’s health. This work is having an impact provincially, nationally and around the world,” said Ryan Baillie, Development Coordinator, SickKids Foundation.

SickKids is recognized as one of the world’s foremost pediatric healthcare institutions and is Canada’s leading centre dedicated to advancing children’s health through the integration of patient care, research and education. Founded in 1875 and affiliated with the University of Toronto, SickKids is one of Canada’s most research-intensive hospitals and has realized discoveries that have helped children globally.
