Samsung Goes To The Games, Signs Sponsorship Deal With Halifax 2011 Canada Games

Samsung Mobile  announced its support for the Halifax 2011 Canada Games through a sponsorship deal where the wireless device manufacturer will supply mobile phones to volunteers to assist them in communicating throughout the event to help ensure the event’s success.

“With over 5,000 volunteers serving 2,800 athletes and approximately 10,000 visitors, Samsung’s sponsorship plays an integral role in the flow of the Games,” said John Rogers, 2011 Games board member and marketing and sponsorship division chair, “Without the support of generous sponsors like Samsung, the Games would not be possible.”

“Samsung is proud to support the Canada Games, which is a key institution fostering excellence in sport that helps young Canadians excel and achieve their potential and helps Canada achieve success on the world stage,” said Paul Brannen, Vice President of Samsung Mobile Canada. “Through sponsorships like this one, as well as Samsung’s long-standing support for the Olympic Games, we hope to be able to help turn dreams into reality for young people.”

Samsung will be providing Samsung Gravity Touch and the Samsung R330 devices as part of the sponsorship.

Taking place in Halifax from February 11-27, the Canada Games is a celebration of youth, sport, culture and community that will include thousands of Canada’s best and brightest athletes. The Canada Games have played a significant role in developing some of Canada’s premier athletes. Since the games’ inception in 1967, more than 100,000 amateur athletes have participated in the Games.
