Timothy’s World Coffee Launches National Promotion With Vienna Tourist Board

November 12, 2010

Timothy’s World Coffee today announced a new partnership with the Vienna Tourist Board to bring the Austrian capital’s world-famous coffee culture to Canada. On November 8, the coffee chain debuted a selection of Viennese inspired beverages and treats just in time for the holiday season. This national-wide promotion offers coffee drinkers a chance to win 1 of 2 trips for two to Europe’s coffee capital, Vienna by entering online at www.timothyscafes.com/vienna
As part of the campaign, world-champion Austrian barista Franz Grünwald will be hosting a public demonstration and discussion in Toronto on the history, art and craft of brewing the perfect cup of coffee.

“We want to give Canadians the opportunity to experience the ritual of coffee-drinking that has become such an integral part of Viennese culture,” said Timothy’s Senior Brand Manager Luana Guglielmi. “A coffee house like Timothy’s is more than just a place to grab a cup on your way to work. It’s a place to congregate, socialize and appreciate the endless aromas and flavours of a quality world-inspired coffee with friends. We are thrilled to bring Vienna inspired beverages and treats to our Timothy’s cafés this holiday season.”

On November 9, customers at the Timothy’s World Coffee 401 Bay Street location will be treated to Grünwald’s demonstration and will have the opportunity to sample the new Viennese product line, which includes:

  • Café Vienna – a traditional Viennese coffee with a rich and decadent mixture of dark brewed and espresso coffee, steamed milk and topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
  • Double Chocolate Schokolade – a rich Viennese hot chocolate infused with chocolate fudge and lightly topped with chocolate shavings and cinnamon.
  • Viennese Cookie – one of Austria’s favourite desserts, a raspberry jam filled hazelnut shortbread sandwich cookie sprinkled with icing sugar.

Vienna’s coffee culture dates back more than 300 years, when the city’s first coffeehouse was opened by Johannes Theodat. Today, more than 800 coffeehouses exist as congenial social centers for both Viennese locals and the millions of tourists who visit the city every year.

*Contest and promotion ends December 31, 2010.
