Royal LePage Gives Back To The Community, Picks Up Marcom Award

November 9, 2010

Last year, Royal LePage Real Estate Services launched a campaign called “Helping You Is What We Do,” which was also adopted as part of the organizations corporate philosophy. The initiative was recently awarded a 2010 Platinum MarCom Award by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals for its work on the 2009 National Garage Sale for Shelter, a one-day charitable garage sale that raised $120,000 in support of the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation.

“Helping You Is What We Do™ is not just a tagline, it is our corporate philosophy and it translates into a collective commitment to giving back to the community. Our brokers, agents and staff have proven tireless in their efforts to create safer homes and safer communities through the Shelter Foundation.” said Phil Soper, President and Chief Executive, Royal LePage.

Eighty-eight Royal LePage brokerages across Canada participated in the event, holding 200 garage sales in locations across the country on May 23, 2009. The theme of the event was “De-clutter for a cause” as Royal LePage agents and brokers engaged their local communities to donate gently used clothes and household items to be sold at the event. In all, the garage sales raised $120,000 to help fund local women’s shelters and violence prevention programs. Since all of the event’s costs were underwritten by Royal LePage, 100 per cent of the funds raised went toward the cause.
The annual MarCom Awards are administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. The Association oversees awards and recognition programs, provides judges and sets standards for excellence. As part of its mission, the Association fosters and supports the efforts of marketing and communication professionals who contribute their unique talents to public service and charitable organizations.
Just more proof that it pays when corporations give back.
