Just when you thought you’d heard every possible angle for pitching natural/organic products, MADARA, an organic cosmetics company in Latvia, has found a unique way to connect with consumers. The medicinal herbs and plants used to create the company’s skin and hair care products are harvested according to the astronomical calendar. The approach is paying off. In four short years, MADARA has grown from a four-woman small business to a successful international company with a loyal following of customers in 27 countries around the world.
Latvia’s geographic location of Northern Europe also provides an ideal setting for production. The Baltic region has managed to preserve many unblemished and wild places, as well as, its diversity of flowers and grasses. Northern summers are short and harsh and plants are forced to concentrate their energy on the short blossoming period to attract bees and continue their living process during the next summer. As a result, at the moment of their collection, the blossoms and herbs in these latitudes are especially rich with active substances and extracts that are used in the production of MADARA cosmetics.
