National Post Offers Buyout Packages To Reporters, Now What?

September 15, 2010

News broke yesterday that the National Post offered buyout packages to its staff as the company no doubt continues to cut expenses. Wait, what is a newspaper without someone to report on the news?

Will this now lead to a number of ex-National Post staff turn to the public relations world? There has been a lot of growth over the last 6 months and many agencies who PR In Canada has met with are currently hiring.

National Post is owned by Postmedia Network which paid 1.1 billion and has been quick to make a number of changes to its leadership team over the last few months.  So what will next for the hundreds (maybe thousands) of National Post employees who take the buyout package on Friday.
