CPRS Names Ruth Hammond First-Ever Honorary Board of Directors Member

CPRS recently recognized Ruth Hammond APR, FCPRS (H) L.M. as the first-ever honorary member of the Board of Directors. Pierrette Leonard, National President, and Karen Dalton, Executive Director, presented Ruth with the honour on her 90th birthday on June 6, 2010 in Toronto.
Over the years Ruth has been a valuable asset to the CPRS, as well she has always been a champion and fighter for women’s equal standing in public relations. Not only is she the first person to receive this honour, she was also the:

  • First woman to receive her APR designation
  • First female Honorary member of the College of Fellows
  • First female recipient of the Philip A. Novikoff Memorial Award
  • First honorary doctorate recipient from Mount Saint Vincent University
