June 17, 2010

Here in Ontario anyone within the public relations industry knows that Humber College has one of the best public relations programs around so it should not come as any surprise that two of their students were honoured with awards from the Canadian Public Relations Society, Inc. (CPRS).

Jolinne Kearns won the 2010 CPRS/CNW Group Student Award of Excellence, while Geoff Koehler won the 2010 CPRS Toronto Student of the Year Award.

Jolinne won the national award for student excellence in PR, for distinction in a number of categories including:

  • clear understanding and application of PR theory
  • professionalism
  • leadership in scholastic activities
  • commitment to a career in PR and ability to contribute to the status and acceptance of the profession

Geoff award was presented to a full- or part-time Toronto student, graduating in 2010 from a CPRS-recognized program, who had a solid academic standing and a demonstrated interest in professional development.

This is the second year in a row two Humber PR students have won CPRS awards.
