Swiss Chalet Kicks Off Dip 'N Win Promotion

Swiss Chalet has launched their latest campaign, the Dip ‘n Win promotion which runs from May 3 to June 27 (or while supplies last).  Guests of the restaurant who order an entrée with a Chalet Sauce will have the chance to reveal one of thousands of prizes on specially-marked Dip ‘n Win sauce cups, including Mazda cars, Dell laptops, vacations and other prizes.

“Whether they love to dip, drench, pour or sip, Canadians are passionate about Swiss Chalet’s famous Chalet Sauce,” said Dave Minnett, President, Swiss Chalet. “Dip ‘n Win is a great way for us to bring that passion to life with an engaging promotion that Guests can get excited about, much like the anticipation we see each year for our iconic Festive Special.”

A number of online and offline components are used to execute the campaign including in-Restaurant POP materials, e-blasts to Swiss Chalet’s Rotisserie Email database and a contest website at, in addition to PR support from Edelman and an extensive social media campaign.

‘Confetti,’ a television ad was created that by BBDO, as well as a national radio (click on link to listen)and online ads to celebrate Canadians’ love for the sauce.  Thindata was tapped to bring email marketing and social media to drive customer awareness and help them connect with the brand.  In a unique twist on the contest, Swiss Chalet is offering Guests a second chance to win. Every non-winning label will prompt a visit to where website visitors will have a daily chance to win Swiss Chalet for a Year (approximate retail value $750). By playing interactive games on the site such as “The Big Dipper” or by uploading a video tribute to the beloved Chalet Sauce via YouTube, visitors can earn even more entries into the daily contest.

“Social media has given many leading brands a voice within the online space, and Swiss Chalet is taking real steps to sustain lasting relationships with the people who matter most – their Guests,” says Ian Giles, ThinData 1:1’s V.P. Maybe My husband and myself are the only ones in the world that DO NOT like your sauce. We both love to use sauces on our foods, but we do not find your traditional sauce tasty. This isn't saying we don't love Swiss Chalet. We frequent your restaurants as well as take-out and love your meals. We feel it is such a waste when the sauce is brought to the table (because we keep forgetting to tell them not to bring it) and then it is thrown out later. Also we find it such a waste to have two dishes of warm water to dip our fingers in brought to the table causing more dishes to be put through the dishwasher. I don't see why the customer can't be asked if they want sauce or a finger wash bowl, when they place their order. In this world of waste it would be something to consider. Except for that I would rate Swiss Chalet a *10*. nActually I'm on this website to play the big dipper contest and can't seem to find it. I'll keep looking nThanks

We have watched your TV commercial about your great french fries. Some of your restaurants may serve good fries but not ours! At our recent visit,the fries were small,dark brown, (looks like the cooking oil hadn't been changed in a long time)and they were dried out. The very poor fries spoiled the meal! The quarter chicken was overcooked and dried out also. Sorry, but we would have to have a good excuse to return to our Swiss Chalet. This is too bas because we like chicken and our parents used to treat Swiss Chalet as their favourite restaurant.

I think your sauce is great could just use it for dipping bread and fries,reminds me of the chalet Bar-bque sauce I used to get while growing up in Montreal,it was the chalet barbque on Decarie great place to eat.Swiss Chalet is close and nearly as good all my special ocassion eating out are at Swiss Chalet.

The sauce, it tickles my tongue, and the flavour goes right down the the right way, the flavor it gives to the chicken and fries is unbeleaveable, who can not resist a secong bowl of it. the next time anyone is at swiss chalet, ask for two bowls of sauce, its the flavor that keeps on giving.

Talk about service , we have never had it so good , just today mothers day we were at swiss chalet, the server was at her best, if she passed our talble, she passed it 20 times, and each time she passed us she took the time to ask us if we wanted more coffee, and always smiling has she passed. the service and the meal including the sauce was out of this world. thanks swiss chalet for making our day and my wife,.

if you are ever in cambridge our swiss chalet is the best the staff that has been there during lunch time has been there some of the girls like Barb for 25 years. when we go we always ask for her. i still cant find the dipnwin so i guess i cant win

Hi there, I have to tell you that I do not like the chicken sauce at Swiss Chalet but love the ribs sauce. I asked for rib sauce when I visited last and was told “NO” I was shocked by this and especially the tone the pert young girl took with me. She said that chicken sauce gets served with chicken and rib sauce is served with ribs and it would “piss off the cooks” if she asked them to switch. At that, I told her to cancel my order and I proceeded to leave. She said “whatever” as I stood to leave. I cant believe such a nice family restaurant would hire such ignorant staff. Now I have more to dislike about Swiss Chalet. In my opinion, the chicken sauce smells like vomit and tastes sour. The staff is ignorant and the service was appauling. Swiss Chalet would have to do something extraordinary for me to ever return for another meal. Too bad because when I lived in NS the service and staff were great and I frequented the restaurant often but here in NL it is terrible. Hope they up their standards here in NL

Hello all. Like all franchised restaurants, their line of food/supply are the same (obvious). In terms of quality and service though, that depends largely on the location of restaurant. I work at a Swiss Chalet in Toronto and I must vouch that our staff are great and everything is served fresh. It really depends on which one you go to, but don’t let 1 bad experience stop you from revisiting other locations though : ) Happy eating.

Swiss Chalet has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid, My grade 8 grad dinner was at swiss Chalet, I'm now 42 and still get to go for my birthday with my family, I prefer the barbacue sauce instead of the chicken sauce though. Thanks for the great work

My Family and i went to Swiss charlet on Mother's Day. nI have Called the Day before Mother's Day,if we could make reservation.I was told yes.The Lady Took my name and how many I said,^6 people for 5:00pm.I was told see you on MOther's day at 5:00pm.We arrived Mother's Day and there was a huge line-up.We were told,Swiss Charlet doesn't take reservation.SO what's going on.One took reservation the other denied us.So we had to leave.. nI was so disappointed.. nSwiss Charlet in Milton,i wont forget your treatment.. nHappy Mother's day !!!

We always enjoy a meal at Swiss Chalet. I especially feel ncomfortable eating there as I am a celiac and can enjoy several dishes without being afraid of becoming sick. I'd be even happier to have more meals on your menu become 'gluten free'. nWe have always enjoyed good service.


My husband and I frequently eat at Swiss Chalet, in Orillia, Ontario, and have always been very happy with the food and service, especially if we get our favourite waitress, Helen. She is one of the most efficient waitresses you would ever want! Unfortunately, it was her day off. We were not satisfied at all with our dinner this week. The french fries were the worst we have ever had. You couldn't even eat them. The manager blamed them on the potatoes, and the waitress blamed them on the cook. Anyway, to compensate for this, the manager offered to give us one, free piece of pie, which we were given with two forks. Hopefully, if we decide to go again, we will have a happier experience.

Things are fine, but for suggestions, you could have brown bread etc and bigger patotes and bigger buns
