Red Rose has announced a new sponsorship program of ONEXONE, a charitable organization committed to providing aid and preserving the lives of children in Canada, the U.S. and around the world. As part of the spnosorship Red Rose will provide $250,000 to ONEXONE and a chance for three Canadians to win a volunteer abroad experience with a ONEXONE partner.
“The Reach Out with Red Rose program will help spread the word about the important work we and our charity partners are doing to support, preserve and improve the lives of children in Canada and around the world,” said Joey Adler, ONEXONE founder and president of Diesel Canada. “ONEXONE focuses on five pillars– clean water, hunger, education, health care and play – and sponsors like Red Rose help ONEXONE continue to make projects like wells for clean water in Ethiopia and breakfast programs for Canadian kids a reality.”
To help with the launch of the program called “Reach Out with Red Rose” Red Rose launched a contest on September 13, 2009 where Canadians had an opportunity to submit a short 200-word essay and photo at www.ReachOutWithRedRose.ca that shows what they are doing to change the world – anything from raising thousands of dollars for a charity run to mentoring youth in their community. Voting on the contest entries runs from September 20 till October 20 where visitors can vote on their favourite entry and the Top 10 will move onto the next round of voting which runs from October 21 till November 4th. The three entries with the highest votes will be reviewed by the Red Rose judging panel, and one lucky person will win a once-in-a lifetime volunteer vacation: a seven-day trip for two, to live and work in Africa on a ONEXONE partner project with Millennium Promise. There will be two additional chances to enter and win next year, with prizes awarded in February and June 2010.
