Canadian Chapter Worldwide Orphans Foundation Launched Thanks To RBC Dexia

November 3, 2008

A $200,000 donation from RBC Dexia has fueled the creation of the Canadian chapter of the Worldwide Orphans Foundation (WWO).

RBC Dexia will act as a lead sponsor in the chapter,  creating the groundwork for  WWO Canada and also providing employee volunteers for its various initiatives.

The WWO, first launched in 1997, will help orphaned children in Canada achieve their full potential through “physical, emotional, social and intellectual” nurturing and growth.  RBC Dexia CEO Jose Placido says he’s honoured the company is playing a huge part in bringing the WWO to Canada.

It also sounds like RBC Dexia recognizes the team-building potential from their sponsorship. Placido says he’s “Particularly pleased with the support of our employees for this initiative.  Their involvement is helping to compound the impact of our financial donation and create a sustainable framework.”

At least it should give Canadian orphans a brighter future  than the stock market’s.
