PR In Review Oct 13-17

Perhaps it’s from election burnout, but everyone’s eyes turned to entertainment promotions this week. The promoters of Saw 5 came under fire for their crank call application on the movie’s website. Fans of the movie could enter a friends name and number to send them a personalized, creepy phone call. Seems the promotion worked a little too well-several frightened recipients called the police. Meanwhile, the makers of Zack And Miri Make A Porno have faced opposition from several sources who are loathe to have the title’s last word plastered all over public billboards and bus shelters.

Both movies have their defenders and detractors, but either way, the notoriety has gotten everyone talking. Is there such a thing as bad publicity in showbiz? I guess we’ll find out.

Meanwhile, here’s a look back at what we discussed on PR In Canada.
