Samsung Sponsors Speed Skating World Cup This Weekend
Samsung Electronics Canada is aiming to raise its profile as a supporter of Canadian amateur sports by sponsoring the ISU World Cup Short Track speed skating championships in Vancouver this weekend.
Many of the athletics competing are Canadian Olympic hopefuls who may take centre stage in Vancouver in 2010.
It marks the latest in a series of athletic sponsorships by Samsung, including events at Vancouver-area speed skating clubs, and should help Samsung cement its rep as an athletic booster.
“We value the important contribution our athletes make to Canada’s national culture, ” said Samsung’s Director of Corporate Marketing Howard Thomas, “and are proud to lend our support to an initiative that will foster sportsmanship at the local level.”
