Java Wars Perk Up As Second Cup, Timothy’s Launch Holiday Campaigns

November 9, 2010

Purveyors of coffee are duking it out for your hard-earned coffee dollars. Specialty coffee retailers Second Cup and Timothy’s World Coffee have brewed distinctly different Holiday 2010 promotional campaigns, both of which were unveiled in Toronto on November 8th, 2010. At the same time, RedFlagDeals.com is reporting an upcoming McDonald’s FREE small-size coffee giveaway that is set to re-launch later this month.

Just in time for holiday shopping, Second Cup is going head to head with Tim Hortons’ eStore, https://shop.timhortons.com, by launching its own e-commerce site, www.secondcup.com/shop. Second Cup is offering 25 percent off all introductory orders over $25.00.

Timothy’s has partnered with the Vienna Tourist Board to debut a selection of Viennese inspired beverages and treats for the holiday season, including Viennese coffee, hot chocolate and a raspberry jam-filled, hazelnut cookie. Coffee enthusiasts can also win one of two trips for two to Vienna by entering at www.timothyscafes.com/vienna.

While consumer spending remains tenuous in other areas of the economy, coffee consumption remains steady. The Coffee Association of Canada says 67 percent of Canadian adults are drinking as much as three cups of coffee every day, and more than half are enjoying their java before lunch.
