CTV has released their Top Stories for 2008:
1. Financial Crisis
2. Harper minority government and the subsequent proroguing of parliament
3. Afghanistan mission: 100 Canadians dead
4. New Brunswick basketball player bus crash
5. Listeria outbreak
6. Couillard affair
7. Brenda Martin
8. Sealers drown during coast guard rescue
9. Greyhound bus beheading
10. Bisphenal A
No big surprised that the current financial problems which have led to what many are saying is the worst recession in history is the number one story of the year on CTV’s list. With the recent Federal election here in Canada having the lowest voter turn out, it is actually a good thing that the #2 story was “Harper minority government and the subsequent proroguing of parliament.” After a few days of watching what looked like an episode of the Young & The Restless as Harper delayed the political process many Canadians were actually talking about Canadian politics.
